February marked the beginning of White Tiger's tournament season, and the school kicked off the year
with its participation in the annual Central Oklahoma Taekwondo Association's Invitational Tournament
hosted by Grand Master In He Won.

The school took ten competitors to the tournament. Those in attendance were Brandon Lee Love,
placing first in fighting and second in forms.

"Brandon had an excellent fight," said Master Shawn Love, the school's owner. "He is only eight and he
fought like one of the adults. He led the first round at 1-0 and ended up with the win with an equal
excellent performance in the second round."

Maveric Tucker and Bo Tucker, brothers, both participated. Maveric participated in the yellow belt
division and took third in forms and third in creative forms. Bo took third in forms and third in creative
forms in the green belt division. Both did an outstanding job.

Barbie Jimenez and her son, Cody, competed in the blue belt division. Barbie took first place in
traditional forms, and she placed first in creative forms. Barbie competed in both categories with an
injured knee and would have surgery on the knee two weeks after this event. She showed the definition
of a warriors spirit.. Cody took third in fighting and third in forms.

"Cody took a real beating in his fight. He actually fought twice for an honorable third place finish. He
received a bloody nose and a third place trophy so I am extremely proud of his determination," said
Love.

Jennifer Love competed in blackbelt forms and creative forms. She placed first in both categories and
did a very good job.

Brittney Jirak competed in the red belt division. She placed third in fighting and first in forms.

"Brittney had a good fight. She fought with a lot of honor," said Love.

Carson Crain competed in the green belt division. Carson placed second in forms and third in fighting.

"Carson's fight was extremely well played out. Carson had the right moves but just did not get the points
to win his fight. He is such a good fighter and it will be just a matter of time before Carson matures into
his fighting style," said Love.

Jonathan Irvin competed in the red belt division and placed third in forms and third in fighting.

"Jonathan showed a lot of heart in his fight and he looked really good and is improving daily; he is going
to make a good blackbelt," said Love.

Loren Luke competed in his first tournament for White Tiger by placing third in forms and second in
fighting in the yellow belt division.
On March 10, White Tigers' Steve Moss debuted in his first mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament as he
faced Devon Schwan in the featured match in the Wichita Slugout at the Cotillion. Moss is a brown belt
in the Hapkido program at White Tiger. Devon trains under Ultimate Fitness Center in Wichita. Moss and
Schwan traded blows early on and Moss was able to take Schwan to the mat and there delivered several
blows to Schwan. The two then stood up again where Schwan was able to connect a series of blows that
rocked Moss. Moss was able to grab a leg but Schwan was ready for him and was able to sprawl out
before Moss could take him down.

While in the clinch Moss was hit with a knee to the ribs as Schwan tried to get him into a front choke hold
commonly called a guillotine. Moss was able to escape and once again grab a leg and this time was able
to take Schwan to the mat.

Here Moss was able to deliver several left handed blows that connected until the referee, Steve
Thomison, called the match. Moss' hand was raised in victory in just under two minutes of the fight
ending in a technical knock out.

"Steve fought with a lot of heart and he didn't let a few punches take his win from him," said Love.
"People don't know that we have been training UFC style for about 10 years now, although we call it
'mokan' and it has basically the same rules as the UFC. They all think we're just a taekwondo school and
that is just not the case. We don't just train fighters, we train warriors and that is the difference between
Steve and other fighters. His win means a lot to our school because it shows that we can go up against a
person that is 30 pounds heavier and five inches taller than us and still come out with a victory."

Steve's next fight will be announced, and he is looking for a belt and wants to go professional, but his
main goal is to bring some skill to the MMA and not just brawl his way into a championship fight.

Those that are serious about taking classes can come up and sign a training contract. The White Tigers
School is located at 115 W. Ninth.
